This invitation was screenprinted during the opening of the exhibition  “20 ans de fanzines rock 1977-1997 – histoire d’un mouvement parallèle”. Organized by La Fanzinothèque, the exhibition took place in La Sirène (La Rochelle, France) and it exposed  more than 300 original issues. Different documents from different periods united by the same common theme: rock.

This illustration was selected for the 2013 Communication Arts Illustration Annual 54. It’s title is “Jazz” and illustrates the the literary figure called enjambment-transforming.
Jazz is part of of a series of 3 illustrations included in Biombo, the first publication of Crean. A small screenprinted handmade book edited with Mágoz and Miguel Montaner that will be out very soon.

This way I imagine the Watermelon Man, as an Chicago’s 70′s pimp.
I guess he believed in the american dream and decided to move into bigger business after a hard period in the street selling watermelons.
This way I imagine the life of this cartoon, which has been an excuse to try put “lyrics ” to Watermelon Man. An instrumental piece composed by Herbie Hancock in 1962 fifty years ago that became a Jazz standard.

To commemorate its 50th anniversary last year 31 illustrators puted image to the music of “Watermelon Man” creating “El Vendedor de Sandías”. A project directed by Chema Peral (friend and illustrator) and edited by Crean.

This is my contribution to Los Exploradors de Adviento, a project by Les Golfes Il·lustració.
As an advent calendar, during the first 24 days of November appeared a daily illustration of a different author. The result is a family of pictures with various styles but united by a common color and the same theme: a famous explorer.

I had to illustrate James Bruce, a rich and stubborn Scottish explorer of the mid-eighteenth century who traveled, with his faithful secretary and his butler, determined to find the headwaters of the Blue Nile knowing that had been discovered years ago.
